Kelly Mac Millan
We have known Kelly since she was Executive Director of the Save OurSelves breast cancer organization. She comes to us with the passion and knowledge to lead the affiliate through the next steps of our development. She is a great asset to the affiliate and more importantly our community. Kelly says “I am excited to work with the Komen volunteers, donors and staff that have truly made a difference for thousands of breast cancer patients in the Sacramento Valley. I hope together we can save lives and find a cure.”
Director of Mission & Grants
Sharon Johnson is a two-time breast cancer survivor and has been involved with Susan G. Komen® since 2001. She first served on the Komen Central Valley board of directors as Education Chair, then left a twenty-five-year career in the medical field to embark upon a full-time career of breast cancer activism and advocacy as their Executive Director in 2006. Sharon now serves Komen Northern and Central California as Director of Mission and Grants. Targeting populations at greatest risk to reduce breast cancer disparities, Sharon directs special outreach and education initiatives with an emphasis on program development to ensure that access to breast cancer screening expands throughout the service area. She will also direct community grants to organizations that will provide breast health and breast cancer projects that address Komen’s funding priorities. Sharon explains, “It is the strength and courage of those who have battled breast cancer that fuels my passion for this cause. My goal is to make early detection and diagnosis a reality for all women and men by eliminating the disparities that prevent them from gaining access to quality care.”
Erin Chandler has a passion for working with nonprofit agencies. Before coming to Komen, Erin worked as a Community & Corporate for Relations Manager for The Boys and Girls Club of Greater Sacramento and Development Officer for Goodwill Industries of Sacramento and Northern Nevada. She brings multiple years of developing community partnerships, organizing fund-raising events, and other fund development activities. Erin also brings a passion for funding development in the breast cancer arena because she has witnessed first-hand the impact of this disease. Her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer when Erin was a late teenager. Since that time, she has watched her mother become a breast cancer advocate and has participated in many Susan G. Komen races with her mother. Erin knows the importance of finding a cure so that women, especially those who are may have barriers to services can survive and thrive.
